Eduroam – Connect Mac OS X 10.3+

These instructions explain how to connect a Mac OS X 10.3 or newer computer to the eduroam wireless service. If you are using Mac OS X 10.4 or newer, we strongly recommend you use the automated setup wizard instead.

There are two main steps to complete:

  1. Import the University’s Root CA Certificate
  2. Configure wireless settings

Import the University’s Root CA Certificate

  1. Locate the Airport menu at the top of the screen.
  2. Click on it and select Turn Airport On, if not already:

  4. Using Safari, download the University’s CA Certificate file by going to: www.wireless.bris.ac.uk/certs/is-cacert.crt
  5. Open the file just downloaded, and when asked “Do you want to add the certificate to a keychain”, change the Keychain option to System, and then click OK.

  5. Tick the Remember password in my keychain box if you wish (not recommended if you share use of your computer with other people).
  6. Click OKPicture of username and password box
  7. You may then get a box stating “The server certificate is not trusted because there are no explicit trust settings”. Click Show Certificate.
  8. You should now be presented with a window titled “Verify Certificate”. It should say eduroam.wireless.bris.ac.uk in the middle of the window.
