FAQ: I get a yellow bubble asking for credentials – why?

If you have not previously, you need to follow the instructions to setup your computer.

If you have used eduroam before, you may get a yellow bubble popping up. This usually happens the next time you use the wireless service after changing your Bristol password.

Credentials bubble

Just click on the bubble and enter:

  • Your Bristol username with @bristol.ac.uk appended. For example ab1234SPAM@bristol.ac.uk
  • Your Bristol password into the password box
  • Leave the ‘Domain’ box blank.

Click OK. Your computer will then connect as normal to the wireless service.
Credentials form

If the bubble repeatedly re-appears then either eduroam is not correctly configured on your computer, or you are typing your username or password incorrectly. Also, if you enter incorrect credentials too many times, the system will lock you out for 40 minutes. In this case, switch off the wireless function on your computer, wait 40 minutes and then try again.
