Eduroam – Connect Windows 8 (manual instructions)

If you are running Windows 8 on a PC, laptop or notebook, please use the eduroam Windows 8 automatic set-up wizard instead of these instructions, unless you have had problems with the wizard.

Windows 8 RT is a special version of Windows 8 that runs on certain tablet devices (devices with ARM processors) – It’s not possible to run the usual Windows 8 set-up wizard on RT devices, so you will need to follow these manual instructions.

There are two main steps to complete:

  1. Import the University’s Net CA Certificate
  2. Configure wireless settings

Import the University’s Net CA Certificate

  1. Connect to the Bristol-WiFi-Setup wireless network (open access), this will allow you to complete the next step (alternatively use a USB memory stick to transfer files to your computer).
  2. In Internet Explorer, not Firefox, Opera or anything else, go to this web page www.wireless.bris.ac.uk/certs/eaproot/uob-net-ca.crt to download the certificate and choose Open
