Welcome back!

Staff & Student Wi-Fi has changed during the summer holidays. Irrespective of whether you used the wireless service at Bristol last academic year, you will need to follow the updated set-up guides, just once, before the Wi-Fi will work for you this year.

What’s changed?

  • UoB-Roam has been replaced by eduroam – When you are on campus at Bristol eduroam works much the same as UoB-Roam used to. The added advantage of eduroam is that you can use Wi-Fi at thousands of wireless hotspots at Universities world-wide for free.
  • To get to the set-up instructions so you can configure eduroam on your computer, you can choose the Bristol-Wireless-Help open wireless signal – only choose this when you are trying to set-up your computer. Once you’re connected to the Internet (eduroam), you don’t won’t need Bristol-Wireless-Help any more.
  • We have followed the advice you gave us and have made various improvements to the instructions pages and set-up wizards.

If you need help connecting to the Bristol’s eduroam Wi-Fi, head over to the help pages as the first step. If you can’t find a solution there, contact the IT Help-Desk in the Computer Centre: help-deskNOSPAM@bristol.ac.uk or visit the laptop clinic.
