Eduroam – Connect Windows 10 or 8

These instructions explain how to connect a Windows 10 or Windows 8 laptop / notebook computer to the eduroam wireless network. Some tablets use “Windows 8 RT” – if you wish to connect a Windows 8 RT device (a device with an ARM processor), you should follow the Windows 8 RT instructions instead.

  1. Do not run either of the installation files on a computer owned and managed by UoB

  2. N.B. If you have downloaded the wizard in the past, delete the copy you have, and download it again from the link above. This will ensure you are using the latest version.

  3. Continue through the set-up wizard. When asked for your Username and Password use username@bristol.ac.uk (e.g ab12345@bristol.ac.uk) and your University Password to log onto computers. Please note, the end has to be “@bristol.ac.uk” do not use “@bris.ac.uk” or “@my.bristol.ac.uk”
  4. Once the set-up wizard has completed, choose eduroam from the list of available wireless networks, and click connect

  5. If prompted, enter your Bristol username with @bristol.ac.uk on the end e.g. ab12345@bristol.ac.uk
(Please do not use @my.bristol.ac.uk as that will cause problems when connecting to other University services, including Print Release)
  6. Enter your password, and click Ok

  7. If your computer does not connect, please first try turning your computer off and on again.  If that fails, please contact the IT Service Desk.
